Pregnancy comes with unpredictable and sometimes, disturbing changes in a woman’s body.
Inasmuch as pregnancy is a physiological event, certain issues can come up, which if not managed by experts, would endanger the life of an expectant mother.
Maternal Health therefore, focuses on the health of women during pregnancy, delivery and the postnatal period (the period following childbirth)
The health and safety of an expectant mother is paramount, and as such, several factors must be emphasized some of which includes; access to quality antenatal care, access to healthcare services as well as availability of trained healthcare professionals who would meet the health needs of pregnant women.
In 2020, about 300,000 women were reported to have died from pregnancy-related causes such as unsafe abortion, antepartum and postpartum haemorrhage (excessive blood loss), hypertensive disorders in pregnancy ( pregnancy induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia), malaria in pregnancy, obstructed labour etc.
Some of these deaths could have been prevented by providing family planning services as well as timely intervention by proficient healthcare professionals working in a safe environment suitable for rendering such services.
At Reprogence, we are poised to bridge the knowledge gap by providing expert virtual antenatal services and referral to centers where our clients will have the best medical care.
